Can you clean overnight?
Yes, and around the airport it is often the only window that exists. A shift finishing between midnight and 8am is quoted at $72 an hour plus GST, and a start before 6am or a finish after 6pm at $64. We employ our cleaners and pay the award loadings those hours attract, which is what makes an overnight roster something we can hold rather than something we agree to and quietly stop doing.
Why should I be suspicious of a flat rate for an overnight site?
Because the award is not flat. A contractor quoting one rate across daytime, evening and overnight work is either absorbing the loading, which does not last, or has not accounted for it, which ends the same way. The usual sequence is that the price holds, then the attendance drifts later, then the scope thins, then somebody at your end notices six months in.
Do you clean the offices as well as the warehouse?
Yes, and they go on one scope with different frequencies against each area so nobody argues later about whether the office was included. Freight operations here are almost always a warehouse with an office attached: customs and documentation offices, meeting rooms, reception and the customer counter on one side, crib rooms, showers, change rooms and floors on the other.
Can you work with airport precinct security requirements?
Yes. Precinct sites frequently require their own induction and identification, and we complete those before the first shift rather than turning up and working it out at the gate. Keys, access cards and codes are registered against named individuals, every cleaner holds a current national police check, and each site has named cleaners with a named backup so security is not meeting a stranger at two in the morning.
Do you clean hotels?
The parts hotels normally contract out, yes: lobbies, corridors, lifts, stairwells, public washrooms, conference and meeting rooms, gym and pool surrounds, back of house corridors, and the periodic work housekeeping has no time for. In-room housekeeping stays with your own team. Carpet extraction, hard floor scrub and recoat and high dusting are costed annually and divided across twelve invoices.
What happens on public holidays?
Public holiday attendance is $120 an hour plus GST, and we will not roster your site on one without asking you first. Victoria also has two public holidays Western Australia does not, which is worth knowing if you compare our two states' pricing. On most sites the sensible answer is to skip the day and adjust the schedule either side of it.
Is a seven day contract worth it?
Sometimes, and we will show you the arithmetic rather than assume. Saturday is $78 and Sunday is $95 because the award makes them so, and on a seven day roster those two days can be a third of the annual cost. Sites cleaned five or more times a week get four per cent off the hourly rate. We will price six days and seven days side by side so the decision is yours with the numbers in front of you.
